My studio is a cozy little corner, designed for low pressure recording, exploration and creativity. I have all the essentials for making good quality, warm, alive sounding recordings, including a drum kit, upright piano, guitars & amplifier, synths & keyboards, a selection of mics, etc.
When working in my own studio, I prefer to make recordings that sound handmade, remaining open to serendipity, mystery, and happy accidents. That said, I do have 15 years of experience with recording music, and I know how to get the results that I love.
I use minimal gear so I can keep rates low and allow for writing and experimenting during the recording process, without watching the clock. The important things for me are accessibility, doing more with less, and being able to work quickly and intuitively.
Being in LA, we’re surrounded by top notch studios decked out with pro gear (some of which belong to my good friends), so I’m trying to fill a different niche. I’m a proponent of mid-fi recordings— right in the sweet spot between lo-fi and hi-fi. I like music that has presence, warmth and vitality, but is also a little rough around the edges, bearing the unique imprint of the time and space where it was made. If this approach appeals to you, please get in touch to discuss personalized recording rates.
I prefer to co-produce and mix projects that are recorded in my studio, since my setup is built around my production style and mixing techniques. I’m happy to offer a single project rate for recording, production and mixing services.
